What "supported" means

  • Every subject: your child can ask the AI tutor questions by typing or speaking, upload a photo of homework, and get step-by-step explanations in English or Afrikaans. They tell the tutor which subject (and, where we have it, which term and topic) they are working on, and the tutor switches when they switch.
  • Topics by term, read from CAPS: shown for 141 of the 189 grade-and-subject combinations, and we keep adding more. For the other subjects the tutor still helps, and each subject page links the official CAPS document that sets out what is taught in each term.
  • Mathematics: also has adaptive practice questions on selected Grade 8 topics, with topic progress labels built from practice answers. See maths help from Grade R to Grade 12.
  • Your child's own material comes first: CAPS is the national framework, but schools, private schools and homeschoolers teach in their own order, and the tutor puts your child's worksheets, homework and textbooks first.

Frequently asked questions

Does AlignWellz support Mathematical Literacy?

Mathematical Literacy is a Grades 10–12 subject and the tutor can help with it. Its topics by term are on the Grade 10, 11 and 12 subject pages, next to the official CAPS document.

Can it help with languages?

Yes. Learners take a Home Language and, from Grade 1, a First Additional Language. AlignWellz tutors in English and Afrikaans, so those are the languages you can choose for each. CAPS teaches languages through skills (listening and speaking, reading, writing and language structures), and the subject pages show those skill areas for each term.

Can it help with Physical Sciences, Life Sciences or Accounting?

The tutor can help with any subject your child takes, and AI can make mistakes, so important answers are best checked against class notes and the textbook. Topic lists by term, read from the CAPS documents, are available for Physical Sciences, Life Sciences and Accounting, so your child can pick a term and topic.

My child's subjects are different from other learners in the same grade. Is that okay?

Yes. In Grades 10–12 learners choose their own electives and may follow the Technical pathway, and AlignWellz lets you choose exactly the subjects your child takes. We check combinations against the national policy (for example Mathematics and Mathematical Literacy can't be taken together).
