AI homework help that teaches, not just answers

Stuck on a question? Your child can type it, say it out loud, or upload a photo of the page. The AlignWellz tutor works through it step by step and checks they understand — so homework builds skills instead of just getting finished.

How it works

1. Show the questionTake a photo of the homework page, or just type or say what they're stuck on.
2. Work through it togetherThe tutor asks what they've tried, gives a hint, and lets your child have a go before explaining more.
3. Check understandingIt asks a small follow-up question and ends with a clear next step, so your child knows exactly what to do next.

It guides instead of giving the answer

The biggest risk with any homework helper is that a child learns to ask for answers instead of learning. The tutor is built to avoid that: it follows a guide, hint, attempt, feedback, explain, practise flow; it changes its approach when your child says they don't understand rather than repeating itself; and it keeps replies short and suited to your child's grade. Your child can also talk to it out loud and interrupt it mid-sentence with "wait, I don't understand", just like talking to a person.

I need help with homework: where do we start?

Getting stuck on homework is normal, and the quickest way out is usually to name the exact step that doesn't make sense. Open the tutor, pick the subject, and tell it (or show it with a photo) what the question is and what you have tried so far. It will ask a few short questions, give a hint and let you have another go before it explains more. If you are a parent helping at the kitchen table, you can sit beside your child and read the steps together.

  1. Choose the subject and, if you know it, the term and topic.
  2. Type, say or photograph the question you are stuck on.
  3. Say what you have tried, even if it was wrong. That tells the tutor where to help.
  4. Try the next step yourself, then ask the tutor to check it.

Homework help for every grade

Homework looks very different in Grade 2 and Grade 11, so the tutor suits its explanations to the grade your child is in. Choose a grade to see the subjects and the CAPS topics for each term:

Tips for using it well

  • Let your child try first, then ask for help with the specific step they're stuck on.
  • Ask the tutor to explain, not just to give the answer.
  • Check in on what they asked — parents can look back at past conversations.
  • Double-check important answers against class notes; AI can make mistakes.

Frequently asked questions

I need help with my homework. How do I get started?

Create a family account, choose the subject, then type, say or photograph the question you are stuck on. The tutor asks what you have tried, gives a hint and explains step by step. There is a 7-day free trial with no credit card.

Can a parent use it to help with homework?

Yes. A parent can sit beside their child and work through the tutor's steps together, and can look back at past conversations afterwards to see what was asked.

Does homework help work in Afrikaans?

Yes. The tutor can explain in English or Afrikaans.

Will it just do my child's homework for them?

It's designed not to. The tutor separates "please help me understand this" from "just give me the answer so I can be done": for genuine requests to understand it teaches, and if a child is clearly trying to skip the work entirely it gently redirects them towards understanding.

What kind of photos can my child upload?

JPG, PNG or WebP photos. Clear, well-lit photos of a single page work best.

What if the photo is blurry or the handwriting is hard to read?

The tutor is designed not to guess at text it can't read. If a page is unclear, it's better to retake the photo or type the question out.

Which subjects does homework help cover?

Your child can ask about any of their school subjects, such as Home Language, Mathematics, Natural Sciences or Life Skills, depending on their grade. They choose the subject (and, where we have the CAPS topics, a term and topic) so the tutor knows what the homework is for. See the subjects page for details.

Can the AI get homework answers wrong?

Yes. AI can make mistakes, so important answers should be checked against class notes or the textbook, and the tutor works best alongside your child's teacher.

Is it free to try?

Yes — there's a 7-day free trial and no credit card is required.
